Have departments within the company challenge each other for the most participants and provide a “prize” for the department with the highest amount of participants.
Bring in guest speakers to talk about wellness and fitness.
Advertise the event in common areas and provide training tips through E-mails.
Give employees time to train together during the work day.
Supply company T-shirts with company logo for day-of-race or for training.
Pay at least half of participants’ registration fee (or reimburse afterward those who attend).
Offer an extra half or full day off to those employees who participated.

The Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is a unique workplace-organized fitness initiative designed to inspire fun, fitness and camaraderie among Atlanta’s corporate community. A free 8-week training program (July 26-September 16) leads up to a corporate run/walk through Downtown Atlanta on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 7 p.m., across from Turner Field. Challenge your business friends and competitors to meet you at the starting line. Some ideas for challenges include the largest number of employees participating, the oldest team, CEO versus CEO, best team time or most male or female runners/ walkers. Remember that there is a Corporate Cup Award for the company with the most participants in each industry category.
To issue a challenge, contact the Race Committee at info@kpcorporaterunwalk.com or 404-843-8727. Does your company encourage its employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle? If so, please fill out a “Most Fit Company” application to be considered for the Kaiser Permanente Cup, a special recognition given to companies that provide a healthy work environment for employees. The “Most Fit Company” application is designed to help identify the strength of your company’s employee health & wellness initiatives.
Awards are presented to companies based on employee size in four categories: more than 5,000 employees; 1,000 – 4,999 employees; 100-999 employees; and 100 employees or less.The survey takes just a few minutes and will be judged by the Worksite Workgroup of Georgia's Nutrition and Physical Activity Initiative. This initiative is a joint effort between the Division of Public Health and its public, private and non-profit partners, to prevent obesity and other chronic diseases through healthy eating and physical activity initiatives across the life span.

CEOs
We have two categories for CEOs: <30 full-time employees and 30+ full-time employees. Awards will be given for the fastest male and female CEOs for companies with <30 employees as well as 30+ employees.
"Phidippides CEO Challenge" Phidippides will reward the CEO with the highest percentage of Atlanta-area employees participating in the September 10 Corporate 5K Run/Walk. There will be two categories: <30 employees and 30+ employees. The two winners will receive $100 gift cards from Phidippides to use for themselves or for their teams.
Verified CEOs will receive specially marked bib numbers and may start in the CEO Start Area up front. The CEO finish chute will be on the far left at the Finish Line.
If a company CEO is participating and would like to compete against the other CEOs, a CEO Scorecard must be filled out and turned in to the Info/Results Tent after the 5K in order to be listed in event results. To qualify:
- A CEO must be the senior full-time employee of the entire company (i.e., President/CEO, Chairman of the Board). - A CEO may only compete if he/she is also a part of a full team competing in the race.

Only teams over 60 need to reserve a time. Teams under 50 should come to the Photo Area anytime from 5–6:30 PM. Email info@kpcorporaterunwalk.com to set up a reservation.
All photos, team and candid, will be available for free and unlimited downloading after the event.
Your race numbers will be ready about two weeks before the September 16, 2010 event. Included will be:
Race numbers for all officially entered participants
Copy of the Company Roster Form with assigned race numbers so that captain can distribute the correct number to each participant
Race Day Information Sheets for captains and participants
Team, CEO and captain Scorecards
Event site map and schedule

Participants are scored on a team basis in three categories. A team consists of one of the following:
Men’s Team.....Four Men
Women’s Team....Four Women
Coed Team....Two Men and Two Women
Note: Participants may be assigned to a team after the race and may only be placed on one team i.e., a woman placed on the Women’s Team cannot also be placed on the Coed Team, etc.
There will be a T-shirt Design Contest for all participating companies. One prize will be awarded in each of the following categories: *Most Original *Most Colorful *Best Incorporation of Event Logo *Most Creative Use of Company Logo
Please follow the following outlined procedures:
Submit a sample (no printouts, please), no later than September 13, 2010, to Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk, 4651 Roswell Road, I-802, Atlanta, GA 30342.
Attach a business card from your company to the inside collar label of the t-shirt for identification.
T-shirts will be judged prior to race night. All submitted shirts will be displayed on race night.
All T-shirt Contest winners will be presented at the Awards Ceremony on race night.
Once T-shirts are submitted, they become the property of the Race Committee and will be donated to a local charity that supports the sport of running/walking.
