About the event
Produced by U.S. Olympian and running expert Jeff Galloway, the Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is a unique workplace-organized fitness promotion that kicks off with Get Active Atlanta!, a free 8-week training program, and culminates in a downtown Corporate 5K Run/Walk and Company Picnic. The Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is designed to promote health, wellness and fitness among metro Atlanta companies and their employees. A portion of proceeds benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Back on My Feet and the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
Who participates
The September 12th Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program attracts approximately 16,000 participants of all levels of fitness (walkers, joggers and competitive runners) from more than 400 Atlanta companies as well as hundreds of individual participants. If you work for a small, mid-size or large company, a school, or are self employed, join us! The Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program is for you! Take advantage of the free Get Active Atlanta! opportunities and then grab your friends or come by yourself and make some new ones at the 5K run/walk!
How it works
First, a team captain sets up the team. Then, employees (optional: and family/friends, too) sign on as part of a company team. Participants receive complimentary workouts at LA Fitness (all metro Atlanta locations, August 15-September 11), organized training programs with pace groups on Saturday mornings and Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday morning Boot Camp, free 8-week training schedules for runners and walkers, monthly fit tips, personal health assessment tools, healthy recipes, discounts and more. The program culminates at Turner Field on Thursday, September 12, 7 p.m., with a 5K (3.1 mile) Corporate Run/Walk and Company Picnic popularly known as the “World’s Largest Office Party.”
